Video Monitoring Project
In 2003, a student at Robert Morris University in Moon Township called Clean Water Action with concerns about the smoke and odors she encountered while driving on Ohio River Boulevard to classes every day. That fall, she interned with Clean Water Action, utilizing her media and communications major by videotaping footage of Shenango for a few hours each week.

Her footage proved extremely helpful to CWA and the Allegheny County Health Department. It detected several problems at Shenango that no one realized was happening.

Using funds from the Progressive Technology Project, CWA purchased its own digital video camera in order to continue the video monitoring project started by our intern. The footage we recorded during this project so far was instrumental in getting ACHD's attention about the recent air pollution violations at Shenango.

If you are interested in getting involved with the project, please contact the Neville Island Good Neighbor Committee. It will involve a one-hour time commitment every-other week to record footage of the Shenango Coke Works from a location along Ohio River Boulevard.http://www.progressivetech.org/mailto:chawkey@cleanwater.org?subject=video%20monitoring%20projectshapeimage_2_link_0shapeimage_2_link_1
