The "Bucket Brigade" is a simple, but effective, tool that dozens of communities are using to find out for themselves what chemicals are in the air. Armed with their own data and information about the health effects of chemicals, these communities are winning impressive reductions of pollution, safety improvements, and increasing enforcement of environmental laws.


In 2004, Classic Auto Resotration Services of Pittsburgh, Inc. (CARS) abandoned their business in Elrama, leaving behind a hazardous site with dangerous chemicals used in the electroplating process. Click here to learn more about this site and what is being done to clean it up.

Over 70,000 people sent comments to EPA opposing its proposed change in the Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), which would cut our right to know about toxic releases to our air and water. We hope this strong opposition will convince EPA to withdraw its misguided proposal. We’ll let you know if further action is needed. Thanks to everyone who wrote a letter or email and to all the elected officials in Pennsylvania who voiced their opposition!
